BICYCLE DESIGN
When Simon Whitfield expressed his interest in getting back onto a Guru bike - the brand that he rode to win a gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics - we decided to create something a little special to celebrate this partnership. With this custom design I wanted to be able to show off the beauty of the natural raw titanium frame while utilizing paint to add contrast and definition as well as to tell a little of the history Guru Cycles shared with Simon. I had recently been working with the painters to develop a 'charcoal' or faded black color to complement brushed and blasted titanium and was very happy with the results we had achieved so was keen to use this as a base color on the frame. Gold was an obvious choice to add as one of the accents for this gold medal winning athlete and the touch of green was the color that had been developed in 2000 specifically for Simon's participation in the Sydney Olympics - which is why it carried the name 'sydney green'.
